Smoke is now visible from the Gold Fire burning on the north end of Holcomb Valley, a few miles north of BIg Bear. This fire has now burned approx 350 acres and poses no immediate threat to the Valley. Southwest winds are generally pushing this fire to the northeast toward the high desert and away from Big Bear. Stay tuned to Socalmountains.com for the latest. Otherwise, warm and dry weather will remain our story with this week. Expect hazy skies out there today with areas of drift smoke as highs reach the lower to mid-80s, west winds 5-15 mph at times. The warm-up will continue through the middle of the week as daytime highs reach the mid-to-upper 80s in a few locations, while overnight lows cool to the upper 40s and 50s. High pressure will weaken and shift east towards the weekend, which should allow temperatures to return to normal (80°/51°). This may also allow some tropical moisture to sneak up for the south, but no thunderstorms are forecast yet.
